Toy Story 3 times better …

I was lucky enough last night to be treated to a private screening of the forthcoming Toy Story 3. For those of you who have not been on the planet very long, the story revolves around a bunch of toys who since the first Toy Story film back in 1995 have become iconic figures in our current times. Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jesse and the gang are back in what I can only describe as one of the most beautiful, funny, action adventure films I have ever seen.

The story picks up much later along from Toy Story 2. Andy (the toys owner) has grown up and is about to embark on his time at college, giving up both his room, his home life and of course his toys. Lets not forget, that this is a Toy Story, but all adults out there will relate to the more human comparisons in the film. In fact this is a more human like film than almost every other film I have seen. It deals with love, courage and I guess a coming of age.

That said, this film is absolutely brilliant, from the second it starts to the final credit, mainly thanks again to the short clips that appear as the credits are rolling. Not only are we re introduced to all our favourite Toys, we are also introduced to a new bunch, which will be great news for all parents who thought they had bought their children all the toys from the franchise …..  We are introduced to Sunnyside, a home for retired and unwanted toys who are given a second chance to be played with again. But all is not what it seems …. I am not going to give anything away, as I know that you will all go to see it, and every single one of you will love it !!! I will just say, my favourite scene was Ken’s fashion show … thats all I am saying.

One last note, all adults, make sure that you take tissues with you. As i mentioned earlier, this film deals with issues that we will have to deal with at some point in our children’s lives, it is inevitable and whilst the children will leave the cinema with huge smiles on there faces begging to go to the toy shop to buy the new characters, parents will succumb to there needs out of a deep overwhelming love for them, whilst desperately trying to wipe the tears away from the eyes.

Toy Story 3 is on release from 19th July. Well done to everyone involved at Pixar for what will surely be the best animated film for many years to come.

Green light for Green Zone !!

green_zone_poster_01

Last night a few lucky staff from London experiential marketing agency The Factory Live were treated to the UK cast and crew screening of the new Matt Damon film ‘Green Zone’.
If you are looking for another ‘Bourne’ movie, then this is not for you, however, if you are looking for a nonstop gripping action movie that see’s director Paul Greengrass and Matt Damon back to their ultimate best, then this is definitely for you!
The film is based on the actual events of the Iraq war, Damon plays Roy, ‘Chief’ Miller who heads up a team of US troops who were sent in to unveil the so called WMD (weapons of mass destruction).
A major government conspiracy is unveiled throughout, which plays out as an incredible nonstop electrifying film.
From start to finish, Greengrass manages to create an incredible atmospheric film which keeps you on the edge of your seat until the credits roll.

Damon portrays Miller in a very convincing way which leaves us asking, are there any rolls this man cannot play ??
Speaking to one of the crew after the film, we were told that the real Roy Miller was on set throughout the filming of the film, and was very impressed with what he saw.

‘Green Zone’ is the latest blockbuster to be released by UK film giants Working Title, who yet again have managed to deliver us an outstanding piece of cinematic history.
We wait with baited breath for their next big release ‘Nanny Mcfee The Big Bang’, which luckily is only at Easter, so not long indeed.
Until then though, The Factory Live give ‘Green Zone’ a massive 13 out of 10 and is our current film of the year. Our only disappointment, is that it didn’t receive any deserved credit at this week’s Oscars ……

The Factory Live movie review – Avatar

avatar-poster-neytiri

Each month field marketing agency The Factory Live will bring you our review on what we think should be film of the month. This article was due to start in January, however, following our office trip to the cinema last night, I was compelled to get this one up straight away …….

Forget anything else you have ever seen at the cinema before in your life …… for Avatar takes you to somewhere that you cannot even prepare for!!
I will be honest, I don’t really know what I was going to expect. I had never really seen a 3D movie before, apart from an old school trip to Alton Towers when I was younger. That film gave me a headache and the paper red and green glasses kept falling off. Last night we were all given what looked like an extremly cool pair of Rayban glasses, which were very comfy, before we settled down in our seats. TIP .. (when you go to se this movie, sit as close to the screen as you can)

The story, as I am sure you are all aware of by now, tells the tale of an ex marine who is wheel chair bound on the planet of Pandora. Through the creation of scientists, he is able to live his life in another body via his Avatar created to look like one of the locals. He is given the job of becoming a spy for the army using his Avatar,  gaining the trust of the locals, infiltrate their world and reporting back all his findings. The story is great, but to be fair, it’s the 3D digital visualisation of the film that will make you stare in awe and amazement at the screen.

The last time I travelled up to the north for a meeting it took me just under 4 hrs, and I felt like I had wasted 4 hrs of my life. At just over 3 hrs, Avatar will make you feel that you have just spent the best 3 hrs of your life in a world that will leave you screaming for more ……..

A unanamous 10/10 from all of us in the office. A must see film for 2009, 2010 and for many years to come. Make sure you see the 3D version !!!!!
